This is a dynamic position with multiple reporting relationships due to the nature of this joint venture.  The manager must be able to successfully navigate the relationships with the Health Care Facilities Partners, Orthopedic Surgeon Partners, and Wilson Health while directing the delivery of outstanding surgical services. 

The Orthopedic Center is physically located inside Wilson Health and is providing orthopedic surgical services under-arrangement with the hospital.  Due to the spatial proximity of services provided within the hospital, it may be necessary to work directly with hospital department managers to manage shared resources, processes and personnel with the hospital.

Directs, plans, and manages all activities of the orthopedic center according to the policies, practices, procedures, philosophy, objectives, and mission of Company, either directly or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervises and directs nursing care provided for patients of the Surgery Center.


Provides a safe and sterile environment for patients, families, personnel and medical staff.


Assist physicians and surgeons by providing adequate and qualified personnel.


Responsible for efficient scheduling of patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff.

Provide control of materials, supplies and equipment as required.


Responsible for efficient room turn-over times for cases.

Provide ongoing educational and in house training for staff as required.


Plans, directs, controls and coordinates all administrative duties for proper management and operation of SurgicalCenter and assigned personnel.


Coordinates activities of Surgical Center with contractors and vendors.


Evaluates and analyzes all nursing services for quality and efficiencies.


Accountable and responsible for all nursing care and related activities and functions.


Participates in assigned center and hospital committees as required.


Performs other related duties as may be assigned or required.



Normally manages several subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the all Clinic Departments, including all business, clerical, clinical, and professional staff.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Also directly supervises several non-supervisory employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

RN designation and certification or equivalent; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience required in OR and Recovery Room nursing. Five years experience in health care management and supervision of related personnel.



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.



May require ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



Certification in CPR required and must be a licensed registered nurse in Ohio.



Strong interpersonal/communication skills to work effectively with staff, physicians, patients, visitors, and external contacts. Strong leadership skills, management skills, willingness to work "hands on" as needed, flexibility, and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
