Under the direction of the Director of Quality/Risk Management, this position will Lead and Support the Organizational Transformation to a Lean Management System through Independent Facilitation of Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Kaizen (rapid improvement) Workshops, Lean  Daily Management (LDM), development of key performance indicators by department  along with other Lean Management processes.  This position will collaborate with Leaders, Managers and frontline staff to identify and improve operational efficiencies by reducing variation and waste through the application of lean concepts and methods.  This position will serve as the improvement coach and lean educator for leaders, managers, and staff across the organization as they work through frontline problem solving and will be a resource for promoting Unit Specific Key Process Indicators.


Leads and facilitates assigned and impromptu process improvements utilizing various Lean methods: such as, but not limited to: Kaizen workshops, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Rapid Improvement Cycle, A3 Development, replication and process redesign.

Collaborates with members of the organization to develop process re-designs that target effective, efficient, timely, safe and patient centered resolution of identified issues.

Coaches managers and staff to identify improvement opportunities, implement change and sustain results following lean problem solving processes or rapid improvement cycles, including the 5 Why's and other lean improvement tools.

Lead lean training events that will enhance the skill base of Senior Leadership, Management and frontline staff. Incorporate training to utilize analytical tools such as fishbone diagrams, spaghetti charts, pareto analysis and others.

Provides on-going support to teams to convert processes to visual management, standard work and metrics.

Participates in tactical and strategic planning for the continuous improvement work to be done throughout the organization.

Develops and maintains improvement request prioritization criteria and tracking tool to manage improvement projects across the organization.

Partners with operations to develop, implement and sustain an organizational goal deployment process.

Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of responsibility.


Education, Credentials, Licenses

Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Specialty, Engineering or Business Emphasis with Certification in Lean Management.  2-4 years Lean Management Experience

Desired:  Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field with 2-4 years Lean Management experience.  Certification in Lean Management

Specialized Knowledge

Kaizen/Rapid Improvement Event Facilitation.  Experience with three & five day models.

Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, 5S/Visual Management

Lean Daily Management and Visual Controls

Experience utilizing and teaching A3 problem solving

Ability to assess a target audience and determine appropriate styles of communication

Software knowledge:  MS Power point, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel

Highly capable with business computations, statistical data analysis and synthesis.

Must be highly structured and organized in approach to work, 

Must have group facilitation and influencing skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skill

Able to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct and evaluate the work of others in a humble fashion
