Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist, by performing the following duties.  The patient population would include the neonate patient, the pediatric patient, the adolescent patient, the young-middle aged adult patient, and the geriatric patient.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs diagnostic radiography procedures with the level of competence required by the ARRT, Ohio Department of Health, Medical and Administrative Directors of Radiology. Maintains both quality and quantity of the patient workload at the professional level demonstrated in the department.

Displays an understanding of procedures and equipment utilized throughout the department.  This includes radiography, trauma radiography, fluoroscopy, special procedures, surgery and portables.

Helps in supervising and training of student technologist from Rhodes State College.

 

PATIENT ASSESSMENT:

Capable of accessing the needs of each patient taking into consideration age, limitations, disabilities, and pain factors. Explains the procedure to the patient or significant other in a manner the patient or significant other can understand.

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Communicates information to other personnel through out the department and hospital accurately and efficiently. Assists patients, physicians, hospital staff and the public in a professional and friendly manner.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

Completes assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

Promotes good working relationships among staff and other departments; treats everyone with respect and courtesy.   Demonstrates Service Plus Skills.  Respects patient/employee confidentiality

EDUCATION:

Attends mandatory in-service (i.e. hospital all day in-service) or department training.

Assumes responsibility for acquiring the necessary continuing education credits required by the ARRT and the Ohio Department of Health and demonstrates the willingness to learn new procedures beyond the assigned job tasks.

 

INITIATIVE:

Shows initiative and self-motivation by doing assignments and projects above the normal job.

 

ABSENT AND TARDY:

Maintains an acceptable level of absenteeism and tardiness based on the hospital and radiology policy.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and ARRT registry or registry eligible.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current ARRT Registry and Ohio Department of Health Radiographic license.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Able to use all fixed and mobile imaging equipment within job description. Basic computer skills a plus.
